We are transforming our Accounts Department to become a lean, strategic, and forward-looking team.
We are seeking a proactive accountant who will initially lead the upgrade of our accounting systems (migrating from Odoo to Xero and Fathom) and transition into a permanent finance operations role after project completion.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who is excited to build modern finance processes - not just maintain old ones.

Key Responsibilities:

Phase 1 - System Migration Project (First 3-4 months):

• Lead and coordinate the migration from Odoo to Xero + Fathom
• Work with external vendors to ensure accurate data migration
• Set up Xero Chart of Accounts and tracking categories aligned to business needs
• Assist in integrating bank feeds and setting up invoice/payment templates
• Develop internal SOPs for invoicing, payments, cashflow tracking, and reporting
• Train team members on new systems and workflows
• Ensure a smooth cutover and validate first month-end close on the new system

Phase 2 - Permanent Finance Role:

• Issue and manage customer invoices (Accounts Receivable)
• Prepare vendor payments and maintain records (Accounts Payable)
• Perform daily cashflow updates and short-term forecasts
• Extract monthly management reports from Xero and Fathom
• Assist in budgeting, financial analysis, and supporting business decisions
• Liaise with external bookkeepers and auditors as needed
• Identify and drive continuous improvements in finance processes

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2-5 years' relevant experience in accounting operations (SME experience preferred)
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (Xero strongly preferred, Odoo is a plus)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Project management experience (leading or supporting system implementations) is a strong advantage
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
• Strong communication skills - able to coordinate across teams and with vendors
• Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment and building processes from scratch
• Forward-thinking mindset: looks for solutions, not just problems
