Role Overview

Our client, a SME commodities trading firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Finance & Operations team.

This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of experience in the energy and commodities sector within an accounting or finance function. The successful candidate will be responsible for core accounting activities while also supporting KYC and settlement processes, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities
• Prepare financial statements and reports to support management decision-making
• Handle settlements for physical and financial commodity trades, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Perform KYC checks on counterparties in line with internal compliance policies and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders as required
• Support process improvements and system enhancements within the finance function
• Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks to support the growth of the business

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or commodities/trading firms
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Exposure to KYC, settlements, or trade finance processes is an advantage
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach
