XCL World Academy is seeking to recruit an experienced and innovative Educational Technology / Application Specialist to manage the school’s academic technology platforms and support digital learning initiatives. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the use of our Student Information System (PowerSchool), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and third-party EdTech tools that directly impact student learning, reporting, and curriculum delivery.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, academic leadership, IT colleagues, and external vendors to provide technical expertise, user support, training, and strategic guidance on educational applications. This is a highly collaborative role that bridges instructional and operational technology.
Main Responsibilities
Learning Systems Administration & Application Support
- Serve as the system administrator for PowerSchool SIS, managing roles, access controls, academic calendar setup, course structures, scheduling, and gradebook configurations.
- Support integrations and data syncs between PowerSchool and third-party tools (e.g., Curriculum & Instruction, MyPowerHub, SchoolMessenger, BrightArrow, OpenApply, Salesforce, ManageBac, Seesaw, ClassLink, TimeTabler, Follett Destiny, etc.).
- Provide ongoing support for all EdTech applications and platforms, including LMS tools (e.g., Seesaw, Schoology), assessment systems (e.g., NWEA MAP, CAT4), learning apps (e.g., IXL, BrainPOP, Razkids etc), and manage student rostering and technical readiness for internal and external examinations.
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, End-of-Year (EoY) processes, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and validate academic reports such as progress reports, report cards, transcripts, and assessment dashboards.
- Create and maintain documentation for system processes, portals, and user guidance.
Training, Coaching & Community Support
- Research, evaluate, and implement emerging EdTech tools (e.g. AI tutors, robotics, simulations, gamified learning).
- Deliver training and 1:1 coaching for staff, students, and parents on key systems including PowerSchool, LMS, Microsoft Teams, and other EdTech tools.
- Develop help guides, video tutorials, and resources to enhance digital fluency across the school.
- Support parent events such as Parent-Teacher Conferences (e.g., SchoolsBuddy) by configuring booking tools and assisting parent onboarding.
- Implement proactive strategies to reduce IT support tickets through user empowerment and training.
Data Management, Reporting & Analytics
- Ensure accuracy of data across platforms by monitoring system syncs and resolving validation issues.
- Generate custom reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, SQL, and native reporting engines.
- Use student data and usage analytics to inform instructional improvements, digital resource allocation, and early intervention strategies.
Compliance, Data Security & Policy Alignment
- Work with the IT team to ensure secure and ethical use of student and staff information.
- Advocate for responsible data use and online safety in alignment with school values.
- Maintain compliance with student data privacy policies and support safe digital learning practices.
Infrastructure Collaboration & Operational Support
- Liaise with the infrastructure team in EdTech platforms authentication and related areas.
- Contribute to procurement decisions by evaluating tools for cost-effectiveness, relevance, and scalability.
- Conduct regular audits of digital tools and advise on EdTech lifecycle management.
Position Requirement:
- A bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting PowerSchool SIS or similar student information systems.
- Experience in K-12 or higher education institutions is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of LMS platforms, classroom technologies, and EdTech tools.
- Demonstrated experience with data reporting, system integrations, and Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
- Exceptional communication, coaching, and documentations skills.
- Able to work independently and to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
