Job Description

Purpose of the Role
This role is responsible for working closely with the Sales team to help qualify, respond to and support new sales opportunities and take technical ownership of the proposed solutions to partners and where necessary, direct customers. Technical sales are a key point of contact for clients and provide pre and post sales technical advice.

Key Competencies and Role Requirements
The Technical Sales Engineer will have responsibility for and be involved in the following activities:

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all product related software within the organisation. Use your technical knowledge along with sales skills to provide advice, support and education on the range of our products. Demonstrating to clients that a product satisfies their need in terms of quality, fit, price, timescales and project management.
  • Work with the Head of Sales to design deliverable solutions that meet the business requirements of the reseller’s customers and the commercial requirements of GTMaritime. Provide pre sales consultation, technical advice and support for reseller sales opportunities.
  • Where directed by the Head of Sales to provide technical support and technical overview presentations to qualified sales opportunities.
  • Where directed by Head of Sales to align with the customers or resellers IT representatives to clarify and scope technical specifications and answer software related questions that will enable the sales process to continue through the sales cycle phases.
  • Search for new partnerships or customers who will benefit from Company products or services and maximise client potential. Working with the Head of Sales and Sales Operations team to reduce churn.
  • Assist sales and marketing in designing technical presentations dependent on the target audience as directed by the Head of Sales.
  • Attend exhibitions, reseller events and customer events as and when required as the technical representation within the sales cycle.
  • Assist sales and marketing in understanding competitor products and solutions, be able to position GTMaritime positively against these.
  • Provide product training and support material internally and externally where requested, including ongoing technical / refresher training as and when directed.
  • Coordinate the onboarding of clients as required
  • To own the availability of suitable demonstration environments and work with services functions in the design, development and delivery of these.
  • Proactively keep abreast of changes and trends in the technology within the marketplace, put forward suggestions where necessary and contribute to any associated discussions.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for all technical sales presentations, delegating to onsite resource where necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of all training/presentations delivered to whom and by when.
  • Any other tasks from time to time, as directed by line manager.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualifications.
  • ITIL certification

Desirable

  • Cybersecurity Related Qualifications

Work Experience

Essential

  • Experience of IT Services or SaaS industry.
  • 3+ years’ experience of working highly effectively in a pre-sales team environment.
  • Experience of customer facing presentations.

Desirable

  • Experience of the maritime industry
  • Experience of providing consultancy to end customers and / or internal staff.
  • Some experience of working with a range of teams, including Sales.
  • Experience in working or interacting with different companies in the Satellite Communications Eco-system
