Sustainability & External Affair Executive

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Company Reputation and Public Relations:

  • This position is to build up company reputation, in both shaping the strategy and implementing the execution. The key responsibilities include promoting corporate social responsibility, implementing Group’s sustainability strategy, as well as maintaining government/industry association relationship. Strong networking abilities, communications skills and some experience in interacting with media, government/industry associations, NGOs are necessary to successfully perform this role.

 

Sustainability:

  • The position supports product managers so they can meet the different sustainability-related demands of their clients including, but not limited to, supplier evaluation forms and an annual GRI sustainability performance report. These, and other forms of sustainability reporting, have a direct impact on our relations with clients and an indirect impact on revenue.

 

Operational Efficiency:

  • The position supports, monitors, quantifies and/or verifies the results of environmental conservation measures implemented by teams across production sites, warehouses, laboratories and offices. Persistence and enthusiasm are key to initiating and realizing resource (and corresponding monetary) savings for the Group.

 

Crisis management:

  • Support to develop corporate crisis management scheme for the company
  • Develop crisis communication plan (media list, communication statement & communication procedure)
  • Support global communication manager to deal with crisis if it occurs.

 

Global HSE Database:

  • Drawing on technical know-how to develop & maintain an organized data management system for Global HSE
  • Overseeing responses and addressing reporting gaps across 57 locations

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Excellent project planning, coordination, execution and communication skills.
  • Minimum Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences / Environmental Management / Sustainable Development / Chemistry or Textile Chemistry / Textile Engineering. Tertiary-level coursework in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry would be an advantage.
  • Certification as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Specialist would be an advantage.
  • Min 2-3 years professional experience in textile or chemical industry, or as a sustainability consultant with corporate experience, preferably in a client-facing role and functioning at the regional- or global-level.
  • Well-rounded knowledge surrounding the science as well as business of sustainability. The sustainability specialist makes proposes and advises management with a clear and current understanding of NGO concerns, evolving public views on sustainability and environmental issues, and trends in the mainstream and social media.
  • Effective communication and networking skills. Experiences dealing with media/PR agencies, industry associations and government are ideal.
  • Hands-on experience and/or training in the implementation of sustainability-related duties
