JOB SCOPE

Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Senior Architect is considered mid-tier and has experience with various infrastructures and is able to apply that knowledge to a heterogeneous network, systems, and applications environment.  This position integrates cyber architectural design with existing and future infrastructure.  The senior architect determines the impact of proposed new technologies and makes recommendations for their secure deployment.  This individual provides guidance that balances security, risk, and business requirements using knowledge and imagination in solutions development.

The Senior Architect provides technical security design guidance and long-term system roadmaps for the company’s cyber security infrastructure. This role initially conducts discovery sessions to gain the necessary background and then applies knowledge and experience to suggest applicable protection solutions.  He/she performs reviews to ensure sustained compliance, remediation of control gaps, and escalation of possible critical issues.

This position identifies areas of potential improvement for developing and integrating secure architecture in coordination with cyber security architects, IT architects and business, industry, and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Investigates and becomes knowledgeable in current business practices and architecture
  • Develop and maintain cyber security technology road maps
  • Identify and define infrastructure and system security requirements for a heterogeneous computing environment (Microsoft, IBM, Linux, proprietary OS, Industrial Control Systems)
  • Design cyber security architecture in accordance with business units, cyber security architects, and IT architects considering current and forward-looking network and system design
  • Create, develop, and maintain detailed cyber security design documentation
  • Meet regularly with the IT architects to ensure cyber and IT infrastructure and design alignment
  • Provide cyber security guidance for business and IT projects
  • Serve as a technological subject matter expert for current and future cyber security protection design
  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements, researching information security standards, conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments, studying architecture/platform, identifying integration issues.
  •  Work with the project team to identify resource needs, cost estimates and other information that is used for budgetary estimates for projects as assigned
  • Address technical questions that vendors and the project team have in regards to the implementation of the technology or process
  • Work with the project team and vendors to establish an implementation plan and timeline
  • Work with the vendor and the project team to make sure the technology gets implemented within project timeline, budget and according to specifications
  • Responsible for ensuring that any problems or issues get resolved for projects assigned
  • Communicate effectively at different levels within and outside the organization
  • Stay current on malware, infiltration and investigative techniques, forensics, and the threat environment

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 + years’ experience in a cyber security architect role 
  • Candidates without the required educational level but comes with more years of relevant experience is welcomed to apply.
