Position/Role Summary:

  • The R&D Manager reports to the Site Manager and is responsible for the management of the R&D department and driving role behind the product development of Company’s Display/LMS and other product ranges.
  • This includes the management and supervision of resources in activities involving Product specification, Design, Process, Compliance, Prototyping and technical support in Company’s product development.
  • Manage the competency and resources of the R&D department according to targets set by the company in terms of staffing and infrastructure requirement.
  • Actively contribute to define how new technologies can be integrated into our products and participate in the sample/product creation with the Global Project team on proof-of-concept prototyping, Minimum Viable Platform & New production generation.
  • Liaise and interface with other departments in ensuring timely product and technology transfers to factory for manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist to grow company business in New Product generation and Current product support
  • Manage R&D Team and strengthen team in key areas such as Strategic planning, Team progression, Competency build-up, Resource management, Process optimization, etc.
  • To align joint development with other R&D Centre at different regions.
  • To establish Product technology roadmap in Display/LMS product range that align with global strategy.
  • In charge of the day-to-day management of the R&D Departments.
  • Management and supervision of resources in Design, Process, compliance in company’s product.
  • Digital and Analogue circuit design, PCB layout, Mechanical design, Firmware & Software development, part and Vendor specification, Prototype build and debugging, Administration/documentation, test instruction and product manual.
  • Manage the competency and resources of the R&D department according to targets set by the company in terms of staffing and infrastructure requirement.
  • Ensure product compliance with EMC/ESD considerations included in the design and that the design passes relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Product technology Roadmap
  • Establish R&D strategic plan to align with Singapore site and Global plan.
  • Advance in new technology exploration
  • Manage and optimize process workflow.
  • To ensure that proper steps and procedures are taken during the design process. (e.g. Documentations, EMC tests, Product validation, NPI, etc).
  • Organize design activities.
  • Planning and conceptualizing new products.
  • To conduct research and development on new products.
  • To work with managers and members of other departments as required to ensure the smooth transfer of new products into production and into the marketplace.


Requirements:

  • Degree/Master in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering or its equivalent
  • At least 1~2 years of relevant working experience as a R&D manager, preferably from an Electronics industry, and/or in a product creation environment.
  • Senior R&D personnel (Electrical/Electronics/Software/System Design) with more than 7 years of experience in Product Creation in a multinational company will also be considered.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the design of electronics products, especially in industrial product design.
  • Knowledge in Embedded microprocessor-based design, Display electronics, Lift display, accessories, and monitoring technology is preferred.  
  • Experience in leading a team of cross-functional team members
  • Experience in Production Development Cycle in either or both Waterfall, Agile methodologies will be a need.
