Job Summary:
Under general supervision, you are expected to maintain and fine-tune an alternative investment operational due diligence program that covers both hedge funds and private equity funds in Asia Pacific.  You will collaborate with investment team to obtain information, communicate regularly with external fund managers, analyze fund operations, and prepare written reports.  You will also assist ongoing portfolio monitoring of investee funds with the goal of eventually taking complete ownership. Guidance will be provided, but you are expected to perform the role with a high degree of independence.     
Job responsibilities:
  • Prepare written operational due diligence reports
  • Review offering documents, DDQ, financial statements and any other relevant documents on the fund and the manager
  • Conduct onsite operational due diligence reviews on fund managers and/or service providers to verify documentation, infrastructure, internal control and compliance   
  • Maintain ongoing investment and operational monitoring of portfolios of hedge funds and private equity funds
  • Willingness to embrace technology and continue to improve operational due diligence and portfolio monitoring processes
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job requirements:
You should have a relevant degree and/or professional qualification with more than 3 years of relevant experience.  Experience in hedge funds operations and general auditing would be helpful.
You should have knowledge of:
  • Operations of hedge funds, private equity funds and/or fund administrators
  • Fund accounting procedures and audit
  • Basic investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the alternative fund management industry
  • Quantitative and qualitative understanding of the investment management business and performance measurement
  • Understanding of major fund regulations applicable to alternative investment funds
You should be able to:
  • Exhibit excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Read, interpret and analyze all operation related documents
  • Attend to detail while maintaining the big picture
  • Organize, manage and track multiple tasks and assignments
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Work comfortably with MS-Word, Excel and fund management related IT systems
