Materials Procurement Specialist
Main Purpose of Job
On behalf of the Order Fulfillment Organization, he/she will lead a group of business representatives towards the development and implementation of a detailed and comprehensive Commodity Strategy. He/she will also lead, drive and get involved with cross Functional GPM programs and initiatives.
-Establish a network of commodity team members. Serve as a mentor and point of reference/escalation for extended team members
-Investigate, define, document and lead the implementation of Commodity Strategy to meet the current and future needs of our businesses
-Lead in the identification, assessment and selection of suppliers to meet existing and emerging business needs.
-Establish appropriate supplier relationship models which best match R&D/ manufacturing footprint and business needs in-line with the capabilities of the suppliers
-Establish and maintain close working relationships with senior management levels both internal and outside suppliers
-Initiate and negotiate contracts for assigned commodities.
-Develop a cost effective and flexible NPI proto-type solution that allows the PL/businesses to predict their costs and meet Product Life Cycle & Gross Margin goals
-Deploy an appropriate range of performance measures with goals and control limits.
-Establish supplier management programs utilizing the MOR and TQRDC methodology to monitor and manage the performance of Strategic/Core suppliers
-Responsible for the implementation of leading edge supply chain techniques and procurement processes requiring innovation and business insight
-Maintain a broad knowledge of the latest industry/supplier/technology trends and procurement practices and their potential impact on business plans
-Maintain close linkages with key contacts across all Groups and works towards common goals when possible
-Work with the suppliers to achieve GCM cost reduction objectives

-Able to demonstrate previous experience in the above areas or is at a point in their development where their experience can be built upon and developed in order to fulfill the key responsibilities

-Must be a proven global team player who is capable of providing mentorship
-Able to work to strict deadlines and balance the varying priorities that exist at any one time

-Take ownership, turning ideas into results, and continually evaluates the business situation for opportunities to improve cost, flexibility and liability exposure
-Known for process management skills, technical expertise, team management, and successful results on major projects
-Sought after by management and peers for broad commodity, procurement and supply chain knowledge and expertise
Minimum is Degree in Business, Engineering or other related subject area, postgraduate qualification preferred and 5-8 years of experience in a professional procurement/ supply chain related environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
