Position : Temp Manager (Research Office)

Contract period :May 2020 – Jan 2021

Working hours      : Mon – Fri

Salary ranges from $5,000 - $7,000/mth depends on relevant working experience.

In overseeing and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Associate Chair (Research) Office, the Lead of the office assist to promote and facilitate the School’s strategic research development

Job responsibilities :

  1. Associate Chair (Research) Office Administration

 Oversee the work of the ACR office team to ensure efficiency in research administration

 Continual review of work processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness in administration

 Prepare research office budget projection

  1. Data Management

 Oversee comprehensive and organized data capture and management on the School’s research input and output

 Provide summary analysis of School’s research performance 

 Oversee collation and report of School’s research performance data for university’s Research Driver exercise

  1. Research Grant Application

 Identify potential grant opportunities appropriate for faculty members  Increase awareness and ensure easy access of grant call information among faculty members

 Facilitate research grant applications 

 Act as liaison between faculty members, university Research Support Office, and potential funding agencies on grant queries

 Ensure timely provision, easy availability, and accuracy of grant application information

 Provide effective administrative assistance to PIs in proposal writing and budget preparation 

  1. Research Grant Administration

 Ensure School PIs, research staff, and administrators’ compliance with national, university, school, and funding agency guidelines on research grant usage

 Oversee internal administrative processes in research account management, grant usage, grant reporting to ensure smooth usage of project funds

 Partner with School HR Business Partner and NSS-HR to manage research staff hiring, on-boarding, contract renewal and appraisal processes

 Liaise with Legal and Secretariat Office (LSO), funding agencies, and project PIs to facilitate the proper drafting and signing of research agreements to ensure the protection of NTU, school, and PIs’ interests.

  1. Research Publicity

 Work with School Management to develop strategies for increasing the School’s research visibility

 Work with communication offices at both the School and University levels to highlight the School’s research achievements

 Oversee the School’s research webpage update for strategic presentation of the School’s research activities and achievements

 Coordinate the provision of organization and publicity support for research seminars and workshops

  1. Research Integrity Matters

 Assist Associate Chair (Research) in the dissemination, implementation, and enforcement of NTU’s research integrity policy

 Advice faculty members and research staff on NTU’s research integrity practices

  1. Coordination with External Offices

 Serve as the liaison between the School’s research office and relevant central offices on new research initiatives, policy and guideline updates, and negotiation of effective solutions

RESEARCH GRANT ADMINISTRATION

About School of Social Sciences (SSS)

SSS has nearly 100 faculty members and more than 1,700 undergraduates who major in the four degree programmes the School offers: Economics, Psychology, Public Policy and Global Affairs, and Sociology. Job Requirements

 Degree holder from a recognized tertiary institution with at least 10 years of relevant work experience

 Good knowledge of policies and practices on research

 Good supervisory, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

 Ability to compile, organize, review and store comprehensive data for record keeping and efficient reporting

 Basic knowledge in data analysis for financial projection and budgeting, reporting of grant information and quantified research output

 Effective in writing and information presentation 

 Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
