Purpose of the role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Language Coordinator to work with a fast-growing team of translators / subtitlers. Reporting to the Head of Localisation, the Coordinator will manage a team working on high volume contracts. They must be well organised, able to manage their time and priorities well, and communicate effectively with both team members and managers.
The Coordinator is the primary point of contact for multiple freelancers, and the ability to build strong relations and manage expectations in this highly demanding and fast paced industry is vital.
It will be the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that the client’s viewers never see badly translated programmes or poorly timed subtitles and have the best subtitle viewing experience possible.
Coordinate translation, subtitling and QC of TV Shows / movie files
Assist Lead Coordinator with recruitment and management of in-house and freelance linguists
Onboard new recruits and send feedback to linguists
Ensure timely deliveries to clients
Facilitate project workflow and manage database
Work closely with global network of coordinators
Assisting project managers and team members with daily tasks
The post holder will have:
A passion for languages and translation quality and an interest in a wide range of TV shows and movies
Organisational, problem-solving, analytical and multitasking skills and the ability to pay close attention to detail
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines while working under time pressure; manage own time
Ability to adapt to workflow/process changes; resourcefulness when troubleshooting or dealing with technical issues
The confidence to reach out for support when required and to take personal responsibility for their work; open to alternative ways of working and new software
Experience, knowledge & skills required
Competence with Mac, PC and MS Word, Excel and databases
Fluent in English and a Southeast Asian language. Traditional Chinese (Region: Taiwan) would be beneficial.
Professional translation experience
Minimum one year experience of language project coordination
Familiarity with subtitle quality control and audio-visual translation methods
Knowledge of subtitling software
Job Type: Full time – contract
Hours of work: Monday – Friday or Tuesday to Saturday
