Job Description

  • Support Centre for Social Responsibility's (C4SR’s) mission to provide student learning opportunities through service and community engagement platforms
    • Mentor student leaders and organisers of summer projects that cater to more than 500 SMU students
    • Mentor and guide student leaders of 30 ongoing local and overseas projects to provide more impactful and sustainable service to the community through service learning principles and tools such as needs analysis and asset mapping
    • Develop new community service opportunities for students in collaboration with non-profit and community partners
    • Facilitate and help students to recognize and articulate their learning through the community service experience
  • Contribute to review of enhanced Community Service programme
    • Collect and share feedback from students on the effectiveness and relevance of the Reflective Practice Unit and Community Service online units with the team
  • Review and re-design of current projects
    • Enhance student projects so as to allow students to meet their community service graduation requirement through the fulfilment of 1 project
    • Collaborate with partner organizations to re-design projects so as to facilitate more effective student learning and create a more sustainable service impact for the beneficiary communities
  • Impact Assessment of student projects
    • Develop impact assessment tools and guide student leaders in evaluating the service outcomes for their projects
  • Enhance visibility of the community service initiatives and good work of our students
    • Collaborate with Marcomms Manager in Office of Dean of Students, internal corporate communications team, and external agencies to increase publicity and awareness of the various student initiatives
    • Coordinate the production of essential collaterals including videos and print materials

Qualifications

  • Degree with at least 10 years of relevant working experience in Student Development, Service-Learning, and Community Engagement
  • Possess skills and experience in Service-Learning specialist domain areas
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Passionate about educating youths – facilitation skills and knowledge of assessment of learning outcomes a key advantage
  • Possess project management, administrative and organisational skills
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to guide, influence and be assertive whenever necessary
  • Meticulous and able to meet short deadlines effectively
  • Strong network with community service sector will be an advantage
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, sometimes on late evenings or on some weekends

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
