The Organisation

The Centre for Evidence and Implementation is an independent, fast growing, intermediary organisation with a dynamic and innovative global team of research, policy and practice experts based in Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The Role

Working closely with the Director, the primary role of the Advisor is to support a portfolio of activities including work related to the Centre for Children and Families. This Centre includes team members from CEI, the National University of Singapore and the Lien Foundation. The Centre brings together experts in the field of child development in a world-leading, multidisciplinary setting focused on improving the emotional, cognitive and social wellbeing of children from conception to early primary school years. Activities include applying evidence in intervention design and improvement, contextualising elements of best practices and providing implementation support to service agencies to improve outcomes for young children and their families. The Advisor will also contribute to project management and research activities.

Key Accountabilities

Collaborating with team members at the Centre for Children and Families. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Becoming familiar with screening tools and other assessments developed for Singaporean children
  • Performing reviews (rapid reviews, systematic reviews) of early childhood best practice
  • Identifying core elements of best practices within research and practice literature
  • Designing contextualised and targeted interventions for Singaporean children and families
  • Contributing to research activities and publications, depending on the nature of the projects allocated within the Centre for Children and Families.

Coordinating and supporting a diverse range of planning and facilitation activities for the refinement, implementation and evaluation of targeted interventions for young children, and other practices and service models, including but not limited to:

  • Project planning and organisation, ensuring project deliverables are produced on time and to a high quality
  • Building strong relationships with collaborators and other key stakeholders such as social service agencies, early intervention centres, healthcare institutions and schools.
  • Preparing and conducting training on implementation science
  • Supporting implementation teams in improvement cycles as they roll out the interventions
  • Analysing quantitative and qualitative data
  • Preparing reports

Contributing to CEI’s strategic growth

  • Contribute to CEI’s thought leadership and knowledge exchange in early childhood interventions, implementation science and related topics
  • Contribute to CEI’s internal operations, activities and processes such as team meetings, knowledge management and performance tracking

Key Selection Criteria

  • Familiarity and interest in the principles and practices of implementation science including a strong understanding of related literature
  • Prior experience in research and evaluation projects utilising quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Clinical competence in child development, behaviour therapy, parenting interventions or other related therapeutic approaches.
  • Prior experience providing community-based and home-based service delivery in Singapore using evidence-based and/or empirically supported interventions to improve children outcomes
  • An understanding of the challenges of service delivery in child and family services – in general and in Singapore in particular
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to manage project work, facilitate project stakeholders and deliver high quality outcomes within tight time frames
  • High-level written and verbal skills, and ability to prepare high quality documents (such as correspondence, reports and presentations)
  • Strong IT skills, including a sound working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and Access)
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Qualifications/Accreditations

  • Postgraduate degree in psychology, social work, sociology or related discipline plus at least 3 years of experience in a relevant content area (eg., implementation science, early childhood, disabilities etc) and a willingness to quickly develop expertise in other areas.
