Manager/Assistant Director, HR Business Partnering
The HR Business Partner plays an instrumental role in establishing HR business partnership with stakeholders to enable effective HR operations in alignment with the University's policies and guidelines while addressing the business needs through HR solutions. The role has a primary reporting line to the Office of Human Resources (OHR) and a secondary reporting line to the School.
Responsibilities
Build relationship as a trusted HR advisor with stakeholders, including display of strong professional credibility
Develop intimate knowledge of the assigned School/Centre’s business needs, translate business agenda into a HR agenda and ensure HR programmes are fit for purpose
Establish clear understanding of the current and projected manpower needs for the assigned School/Centre, and partner with stakeholders and Shared Services to address the needs through manpower planning and budgeting, succession planning and development, as well as recruitment and selection
Manage all activities in relation to recruitment, appointment/reappointment and induction for faculty, management and support (MSO) and research staff;
Provide professional advice on the interpretation of HR policies and procedures, employment legislation, performance management, recruitment and rewards strategies
Advise People Managers and employees on policy/ system changes and implications, as well as understand and gather their feedback
Manage situations pertaining to industrial relations, employee grievances, conduct and discipline
Work with HR Centres of Excellence, HR Shared Services and key stakeholders, in the delivery of various HR programmes and initiatives, including policy and process reviews, employee engagement surveys, people development programmes, change management plans, performance management and promotion exercises, etc.
Recommend and participate in improvements of HR processes and systems to enhance employee experience
Requirements
Degree, preferably with specialisation in Human Resource Management;
Minimum 8 years of relevant working experience in HR Business Partner role;
Proven record in project management and implementation;
Good knowledge of Employment Act and Labour Laws;
Comfortable operating in a matrix structure and in a dynamic environment;
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all levels;
Strong analytical thinking and communication skills;
Attention to detail, strong follow-up and organizational skills;
Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.); and
Supervisory experience in managing small teams will be advantageous.
The level of appointment and compensation offered will commensurate with your experience.
