Hegen is a fast-growing company specialising in mother and baby products, with a mission to enhance the breastfeeding journey for both the mother and baby. We are looking for a design-centric Mechanical Design Engineer to join our newly-formed R&D Department. As the pioneer Mechanical Design Engineer, you will help to drive new product developments and bring to life, innovative product designs that enhance the breastfeeding experience for mothers around the world.

THE ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

Hegen offers creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer the opportunity to be part of a highly dynamic and energetic team that is responsible for every aspect of Hegen’s growth across the region. As the Mechanical Design Engineer, your problem-solving skills will contribute to the elevation and improvements of the existing design of components and sub-assemblies to achieve product design excellence.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design of components, sub-assemblies and new products from developing, testing, to modifying the mechanical architecture of the products
• Create and validate technical development of product components & systems, taking care of its design and development (technical specification, functionality, reliability, manufacturability, safety, etc)
• Work closely with the design team within R&D department starting from product specification, design review through to feasibility study
• Applying material tests and managing simulations with Quality team.
• Identifying issues and risks to enable early mitigation or avoidance during product development
• Support labs in test specification and system test plans, as well as understand technical test results to inform design development and final approval for series production
• Maintain familiarity with and be able to apply current technology, design standards and industry best practices
• Provide guidance to other junior engineers within the department
• Liaise with internal and external suppliers

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a technology / product / engineering environment working on mechanical components and systems for high quality products and brands
• Comfortable working in a start-up environment and working independently
• Candidate with extensive and relevant experience will be considered for a Senior position
• Knowledgeable and experienced with mass production and manufacturing using plastic and silicone materials
• Proficient with parametrics 3D design tools (Solidworks/Catia/Creo)
• Good knowledge of utilizing prototyping equipment (3D printers & CNC laser machines)
• Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
• Positive, tenacious and passionate about design
• Flexible & adaptable with excellent time management
