The Job

As a Investment Director you need to :

  • Source new early-stage investments including meeting with founders and entrepreneurs, attending relevant networking events, and calling on new prospects, primarily focusing on local market and across Southeast Asia.
  • Participate in all aspects of due diligence including customer and management references, market sizing and mapping, and industry research.
  • Evaluate investment proposals from potential companies for preliminary discussion with your Manager
  • Analyze companies from a financial, technical, operational, and industry perspective and create valuation models to support investment recommendations.
  • Prepare and develop investment thesis and presentation materials to the Investment Committee 
  • Monitor and track performance of portfolio companies across Southeast Asia and prepare required reports.
  • Partner with portfolio companies’ leadership and serve as resource in value creation initiatives so to grow the business, improve business processes, strengthen management talent etc.
  • Manage the commitment and disbursement procedures
  • Maintain up to date information in archives and portfolio management systems

The Profile

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, IT engineering or its equivalent is preferred and ideally with an MBA from an elite business school
  • Must possess relevant experience in venture capital/ private equity/ investment banking/ consulting or early-stage investing
  • 3-5 years of investment experience (VC/PE, investment banking, private equity) is preferred
  • Active ties to local start-ups or VC communities and adept with technology and digital innovation, familiar with the technology ecosystems as businesses and evolving platforms, either from work experience or personal interest
  • Strong analytical and research abilities, including the ability to identify subjects that are relevant to initiatives and stakeholders and provide relevant conclusions and recommendations
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; articulate and confident in presenting ideas in a group setting
  • Ability to write in a clear, succinct and engaging manner, argue compellingly and present data intelligently
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and networking skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
