100 years of operating in Singapore

ExxonMobil has been operating in Singapore for over a hundred years. Starting with kerosene trading, the company today runs a multi-billion dollar manufacturing and marketing business.

Singapore also serves as the company's Asia Pacific hub for its downstream and chemical businesses, employing about 2,000 people in all.

ExxonMobil is one of the largest foreign investors in Singapore with investments totalling US$6.5 billion, including a US$2 billion investment in the Singapore Chemical Plant (SCP).

Singapore is also the location of the 605,000-barrel-per-day Singapore Refinery which is ExxonMobil's largest in the world. This operation is fully integrated with SCP.

SCP delivers a wide range of petrochemical products to it's customers. It comprises of a steam cracker that produces 800,000 tons-per-year of ethylene,435,000 tons-per-year of propylene, and other products for several downstream chemical units in and around Singapore. It also has a 480,000-ton-per-year polyethylene unit, the largest single reactor unit of its type in the world, a 315,000-ton-per-year polypropylene unit, a 150,000-ton-per-year oxo alcohol unit and a 155-megawatt co-generation unit that provides power to both the refinery and the chemical plant.

Together, the Singapore Refinery and SCP, form ExxonMobil's largest integrated manufacturing site in Asia.

ExxonMobil is the largest retailer in automobile fuels and lubricants under the Esso and Mobil brands with an extensive network of 74 service stations throughout the island. It is also a major marketer of cylinder cooking gas (LPG) to Singapore homes. In addition to the consumer market, ExxonMobil also serve commercial markets with industrial, aviation and marine fuels and lubricants.
