Junior Cloud Engineer
Job Title: Junior Cloud Engineer
Work Location: Downtown Core, Singapore
Job Type: 1 year contract, subject to renewal
About the Job
The Junior Cloud Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions. They'll collaborate with senior engineers to deploy and manage cloud infrastructure, optimize performance, and ensure security and compliance. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for learning are essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and management of cloud-based infrastructure and services using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Deploy and configure virtual machines, containers, and other cloud resources to support development, testing, and production environments.
- Monitor cloud resources for performance, availability, and security, and respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize cloud-based applications and workloads for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security controls, to protect cloud environments and data.
- Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues, diagnosing root causes, and implementing corrective actions to maintain system availability and reliability.
- Stay current on emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Document cloud architectures, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and stakeholders on cloud-related matters, including training and troubleshooting.
- Any other ancillary tasks or works as and when requested and assigned by the Company.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in cloud computing or a related field, including exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and security services offered by major cloud providers.
- Understanding of cloud architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and infrastructure management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Google Cloud Certified - Associate Cloud Engineer are a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
